Registered Charity No 1108814
Southrepps Commons Trust is a Registered Charity relying on grants and donations to continue it's valuable work. It may seem surprising that a recognised Local Nature Reserve and site of Special Scientific Interest, which so many people enjoy, which is home to several rare species and which provides a valuable teaching resource for the local primary school, should be so dependant on charitable giving, but that is how it is.
Trustees do not organise fund-raising events because all our time and energy is given to the practicalities of looking after the site. We prefer to seek funding for specific projects and have been fortunate that over the year numerous bodies including County, District and Parish Councils, Natural England and O2 have recognised the value of our work and helped either financially or in kind. All our successes have been paid for in this way, including the impressive boardwalks, information kiosk, notice boards and outdoor classroom.
Our latest project, running in cooperation with North Walsham Scouts, is the reinstatement of an old pond complete with dipping platform accessed by a new boardwalk extension. This is the area assigned for use by neighbouring Antingham and Southrepps Primary School and is made possible by a grant from Norfolk Community Foundation.
Our next request for help is in connection with the revision of our popular leaflet. Stocks are running low and it is time to reprint and revise, so any help in this regard would be most appreciated.
No comments on funding should fail to mention all the voluntary practical help given by Southrepps residents themselves. Help in kind has a direct monetary value and the many hours given in this way demonstrate to potential sponsors and grant giving-giving bodies that we are a community based organisation which deserves supporting.
Finally, all donations from members of the public are gratefully received and will be put towards routine running costs such as tools and equipment, maintenance and repairs, administration and insurance. There is a collecting box in the information kiosk or donations can be sent by cheque to SCT Treasurer, Welland House, Lower Street, Southrepps, NORWICH, NR11 8UL
